15 HOURS OF HEALTHY PLEASURE
general description
GOALS
- To provide young people with clear information about the harm of drugs, tobacco and alcohol
- To encourage team-building through joint activities
CONCEPT
Friday to Friday, 8 days, 15 hours, 2 discos and 3 seminars
FEATURES
Interaction between participants and club members, resulting in new friendships, new lines of communication and new members. The program is aimed at teenagers of 12 to 15 years old.
PART ONE: DISCO DANCING, 2 evening events
A dance/theme party featuring audience participation in games, contests, role playing and video shows. These activities are aimed to show the harm of drugs, the pleasure of being healthy and encourage young people to say "no" to drugs.
Contests
Two or three 5-minutes contests conducted by club members.
- Who writes more slogans about the harm of drugs
- Who throws the cigarette further away
- Find your pair with the same anti-drugs slogan
Role playing
- Refuse a cigarette when your peers smoke
- Convince a friend not to drink alcohol or not to smoke
Video shows
5-minute music video illustrating the harm of drugs repeated a few times during the disco.
Prizes
All the winners and participants in Contests and Role Playing receive prizes: movies, music and computer discs, table games, balloons, soft toys, etc.

PART TWO: SEMINARS "COME TOGETHER," 3 days, after school time
Seminars led by two professional psychologists. Club members act as participants and assistants.
Seminars feature an informal atmosphere to encourage participants to get to know each other better through games and mutual training. Every participant is involved in all activities.
Seminars sized for a group of 20 to 40 students, breaking into smaller groups for certain actvities.
First day
Everyone who comes to the seminar for the first time feels unconfident and a bit confused, but open to a new experience

"A miracle", when participants already know each other and are looking forward to joint activities

- Describing a thing
Third day
The day of sharing ideals, when everyone speaks of his dreams and proposes ways to achieve them in his future life

EXPERIENCE 1996-1998
March 7, 1996
Pilot program - a Theme Disco against smoking was held in St. Petersburg, Russia. Feedback from more than 100 students who attended the program was received, showing that students liked the way Club presented the topic of smoking and that the program gave encouragement to those students to fight peer pressure and resist the bad influence.
May 1, 1996
The second Theme Disco against drugs was held in High School #631.
September 19-26, 1997
15 HOURS OF HEALTHY PLEASURE was presented in its full scope in High School #2, St.Petersburg, Russia. The program was well received by students, teachers and administration. All contributed to programs' success, resulting in 15 students from the school joining "Interact Club of St. Petersburg."
March 13-21, 1998
High School #631. More than hundred participants. Interact and Rotaract Clubs of St. Petersburg joined in celebrating The World Rotaract Week and Interact Club of St.Petersburg Fifth Anniversary by presenting the program. 15 HOURS OF HEALTHY PLEASURE increased Interact Club membership by 30%

- Rotary International Presidential Conference in St.Petersburg, October 6, 1997.
- Rotary Workshop "Rotary in Russia", Denver, Colorado, February 7, 1998.
- Rotary International District 7620 Conference, Ellicott City, Maryland, May 2, 1998.
It also has been presented on Rotary Club meetings in St.Petersburg (Russia), Rockville (Maryland, USA), Frederick (Maryland, USA) and some others.
